Antonio watched him often.

Lovino Vargas was your average male, Italian, and twenty-two years of age who owned his own restaurant that he ran with his brother. He was violent, and he swore a lot, and finished high school as an honor student. His brother was his twin, and he had light, caramel skin with a little curl looping out to the right side. His eyes were a shade of amber that always seemed to be poised in a scowl.

Lovino Vargas lost his mother and father when he and his brother were twelve. They went to live with their grandfather shortly after that who was residing in America at the time. When they grew old enough, they went back to their native land, Italy, and started their business.

Antonio knew so much about him. Antonio knew almost every detail there was to know.

But the one, weird thing was that they'd never spoken before ever.

Antonio is a sky dweller. Antonio is what most people would call a Guardian Angel. Antonio watches Lovino from a distance and gets to know him without the means of verbal communication. Antonio watches him from the sky.

Lovino tends to look up at the sky a lot.

Antonio wonders if Lovino knows he's watching over him.

Antonio himself died when he was twenty-two. He had two choices when he died, to pass on and seek judgment, or to become a Guardian Angel. Antonio chose to be a Guardian Angel to save the lives of those who did not deserve.

So Antonio was assigned to Lovino. He was assigned to Lovino for one cause; to make sure he lived his life fully.

He sometimes came down from the sky to help him. Sometimes he just helped him relax, other times he made something work, or fixed something and Lovino could never see. Living mortals can't see their Guardian Angels.

So when Lovino looked straight at him one day, Antonio feared something was wrong.

"Who the hell are you and why are you here?" he demanded to know.

Antonio was unsure of what to say, for he was not supposed to be able to see. "I…I'm…"

"Start talking damn it! Who are you?" Lovino snarled again.

"A-Antonio…Antonio Fernandez Carriedo…" he said.

The Italian man nodded slowly. "Well, tell me what you're doing here."

"You wouldn't believe me if I told you…"

"Oh really?" Lovino leaned against the wall, crossing his arms. "Try me. Lay it on me, bastard."

So the Angel explained. He explained about how he was a Guardian and how he was sent to make sure he was living and happy. He gave examples and how he lived in the Sky Kingdom way up high. He told him all the facts he knew about him simply by watching.

And the whole while the Italian had just been silent, listening to every word carefully as if taking it all in. He shrugged after he'd finished. "I can't honestly tell you I believe you. But at the same time you seem to be so into believing it yourself. That, or you're just a lunatic bastard."

But Lovino never did say anymore than that.

Antonio was sure he believed him to be honest.

Since Lovino could now see him, he wanted his attention. He asked Antonio to do thing, to check something, to look at something, to watch something, to just be around him. Antonio noticed how Lovino tended to blush at the slightest contact, and how he tended to shy away, but at the same time loved him to be near.

It was endearing, really.

So Antonio took him by the hand, and gladly showed him the emotion he never felt. Antonio spent more and more time on earth than he should have, more time than he was allowed to on the terrestrial plain. He needed to return to the Sky Kingdom, but he did not want to leave Lovino.

But in the end, he had to.

So one night, when the stars were bright and vivid, and the moon was shining at its fullest, he told him. He told him plain and simple, I need to go.

"D-damn it why?" Lovino asked, clearly visible that he did not like this.

"Because I can only spend so much time here, because I am already dead. I must return to the Sky Kingdom, but I will be watching my sweet," Antonio pressed his lips to his in a soft kiss.

He embraced him, holding him close as he began to fade. "And my love, if you ever need me…"

Antonio pointed up. "I'll be watching, always, from right up there."
...I'll be right up there, watching.
